Broadway Christian Church

    Doctrine

Broadway Christian Church is part of a brotherhood of thousands of individual congregations. We accept the divinely inspired Word of God as the only rule of faith and practice for us as Christians. We are part of the Restoration Movement, striving to restore the New Testament Church as found in the book of Acts. Seeking to be a New Testament congregation, our aim is Christian unity.

We have no denominational affiliation. We simply strive to follow the commandments and examples set forth in the New Testament. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the living God. We expect believers to repent, or turn from, their sin. This repentance is a godly sorrow for past sins that leads to a changed life. We encourage believers to make a public confession of their faith in Jesus Christ as God's Son. We practice baptism by immersion for the purpose of having our sins forgiven and receiving the Holy Spirit. This was the only form of baptism practiced by the New Testament Church.

Our plea to restore the New Testament Church involves letting go of all creeds, denominations, and man-made rules. Through the years, a couple of our slogans have become, "Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent." Another slogan we hold onto is, "No creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, no name but the divine, no plea but the Gospel!"

We simply desire to reproduce the church founded by Jesus Christ in doctrine, life, and practice.
